Everyone’s wondering if Pakistan will get in trouble with the ICC because of India’s stance during the T20 World Cup. Well, a former head of the ICC, it’s a probably not gonna happen.
Basically, Pakistan has not broken any ICC rules. You only get punished if you break the rules or don’t do what you are supposed to. Pakistan’s done everything right as far as the ICC is concerned, so there is no reason to punish them.
The ICC works by everyone agreeing on stuff , not just one person calling the shots. They usually stay out of Political fights between countries because they know cricket boards have to listen to their government, specially when it comes to travel and playing each other.
India and Pakistan have not exactly been cricket buddies for a while now because of politics. The ICC always seen it as a political thing, not something to punish. So, punishing Pakistan now would be weird and make things messy.
But there is the thing, even if Pakistan does not get officially punished, things could still be tricky for them.
India brings in a ton of money for the ICC through TV rights and sponsorship. If India is not as involved, it hits the ICC wallet hard. Because of that, money can play a big part in decision about schedules and where games are held.
So, Pakistan might not get a formal slap on the wrist, but they could still lose out when it comes to important decisions for the ex-ICC head honcho said that in cricket, it’s often about the money and who has the most influence, not just the rules.
Also, fans love seeing India and Pakistan play. If they can’t play each other because of politics, it can hurt how popular a tournament is. This can make organizers rethink things.
Pakistan probably won’t get punished because they have not broken any rules. But that does not mean they are in the clear . Today’s cricket world, Following the rules is good, but having money and influence it what really matters.
