Kohli showed again that he is still key to India’s batting. His great score of 93 guided the team to attend victory over New Zealand in the first of 3 matches. India won with a few play to spare but New Zealand made them work hard for every run. The four wicket victory gave India lead in the series but Kohli inning was the most memorable part of the match.

New Zealand was upset by the Loss, especially after scoring a good total and putting pressure on during the chase, but they bowlers showed enough skill to suggest that the series is still competitive.

For India, this match showed again how important Kohli is in the ODI cricket. Even though he did not score a century, his 93 was very valuable and innings based on control, timing and determination. As the series goes on, India will want to finish more decisively , while New Zealand will want to bounce back in the next ODI.
