Ravichandran Ashwin, the experienced Indian off-spinner known for his insightful cricket analysis, is making waves with a bold statement about a key Indian player’s game-changing performance. While Abhishek Sharma’s powerful hitting has been in the news lately, it is clear that Ashwin’s praise this time is for another player whom he believes practically ended the game in one over.

Ashwin’s comments came as he talked about a recent India game where the momentum shifted dramatically in a single stretch of play. He thinks that over did not just change the game direction to basically decided the outcome. The player he is talking about is Jasprit Bumrah, India’s fast bowler and perhaps the most game changing bowler of this time.

One over that broke the match open.

During a post match discussion, Ashwin pointed out how important those short critical movements are in today’s cricket. People talk about big scores and long bowling spells, he said, But sometimes one over his all, it takes that over practically and the game.

He was talking about Bumrah sharp spell at a vital point when the other team seem to be getting comfortable and building a partnership. With the tension high and the game on a knife edge, Bumrah came back into the attack and what happened next, in Ashwin’s opinion was a lesson in how to bowl fast and the pressure.

A wicket with the first bowler, tight dot ball that increase the pressure and then another big breakthrough quickly turned the game around. The opposition went from being in a competitive position to struggling, their plans ruined.

White was not about Abhishek Sharma

Ashwin quickly made it clear that his comment was not about Abhishek Sharma, who has been getting a lot of praise for his aggressive batting at the top of the order. While Ashwin recognise Abhishek increasing impact in T20 cricket. He emphasised that this particular game was won with the ball, not the bat.

Abhishek has been great, no doubt, Ashwin said. But this game turned because of good bowling. That’s where Bumrah is in a different class.

They shows Ashwin larger point. Even though everyone is focused on big hitting, great bowling still wins big games.

Bumrah’s rear skill set

Ashwin went on to explain by Bumrah makes such an immediate and decisive impact. His unusual action, late release and ability to create sharp bounce make him very difficult to face. More importantly, Bumrah has the mind-sets to bowl his Best when the pressure is on.

What makes them special, Ashwin noted, is how clear he is. He knows exactly what ball to bowl when it matters most. That kind of Clarity wins game.

Whether it’s with a new ball in the middle overs or at the end, Bumrah’s adaptability means captain can use him to solve problems. Someone who can stop the other teams momentum in an instant.

A reminder of bowling’s value

Ashwin government also remind us that cricket games are not always decided by long innings or hundreds, sometimes a single over. Perfectly planned and executed can tip the skills for good.

By praising Bumrah so strongly, Ashwin confirmed what fans and experts have long thought. When Bumrah’s performs at the right time, the opposition does not just Loose wickets. They lose hope.

And as Ashwin put it simple, when a bowler can do that in one over, the game is already done.
