RCB fans have been living with the motto "Ee Sala Cup Namde" as a dream for years, but in 2025, things changed when the franchise finally won its first Indian Premier League (IPL) title by defeating Punjab Kings in a nail-biting final at Ahmedabad. The win caused celebration not only in the dressing room but throughout Bengaluru, as streets were painted red and gold. In celebration of the success, the city arranged a big RCB Title Celebration Parade, providing an opportunity for fans to see their heroes in action.
Schedule of the Celebration
The title was to be celebrated in a victory parade on 4 June 2025, the day after winning the title. The team was headed by captain Faf du Plessis and featured legends such as Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, and Mohammed Siraj. The team arrived in Bengaluru in the afternoon. The schedule was as follows:
1:30 PM – Team arrival at HAL Airport, Bengaluru.
4:00 PM – 5:00 PM – Courtesy visit of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at Vidhana Soudha.
5:00 PM onwards – Commencement of the victory procession from Vidhana Soudha.
5:30 PM – 6:30 PM – Felicitations ceremony at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium with thousands of supporters likely to be present.
The plan was that the players would ride on an open-top bus, greeting fans along the way before arriving at the stadium to attend the grand function.
Route Details
The initial route ran from Vidhana Soudha to M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, passing through the city's center. The fans had already arrived as early as noon, with most of them sporting the team's signature red jersey, waving flags and slogans. The government and Bengaluru Police had issued pre-advisories, warning of traffic congestion and requesting fans to use public transport to witness the spectacle.
The parade was intended to be symbolic—beginning from the state's seat of power and culminating at the team's citadel, Chinnaswamy Stadium, where RCB has cultivated its faithful followers over the years.
Live Streaming & Broadcast
For those who could not travel to Bengaluru, the celebration was made available across various platforms.
Television Broadcast – The Star Sports Network streamed live images of the event, covering both the parade and the felicitation ceremony.
Online Streaming – Viewers could watch through Disney+ Hotstar and JioCinema, where the broadcast was ad-free to most mobile viewers.
Social Media Updates – RCB's official social media channels on YouTube, Instagram, and X (previously Twitter) streamed back-of-house, interviews, and live reaction of fans.
This made RCB's first title triumph an international spectacle, bringing together fans not just in Bengaluru but across the world of cricket as well.
Though the enthusiasm was unparalleled, the event also brought out the difficulties in hosting such a large event. For safety and traffic purposes, the Bengaluru Police later decided not to use the open-top bus for the parade. Instead, the team rode in closed buses from Vidhana Soudha to the stadium.
At M. Chinnaswamy, there were already thousands gathered, much more than the stadium capacity. While the felicitation ceremony went ahead as scheduled with fireworks, music, and introductions of the players, it had to be terminated after there were reports of a stampede-like condition outside the stadium. Unfortunately, a number of people lost their lives, while dozens were injured, spoiling what was supposed to be a historic day of celebration.
Fan Reactions
In spite of the untoward turn of events, the relationship between RCB and its fans stood the test. Supporters hailed the day as "bittersweet"—a one-time chance to toast the long-sought trophy, tainted by fan mismanagement. Virat Kohli, in his speech, dedicated the victory to "the 12th man—our loyal fans" and called for safety to be ensured at future congregations
